Helping you to provide a Heavenly Welcome to your little one!

Why a Doula?

Whether you need a mama, sister, friend, coach, or childbirth education, a doula can provide all of these roles in one. A doula is an integral part of a birthing team, and offers a unique support to mama. They offer a special role to care for, encourage, support, educate and offer comfort measures primarily to the mama, but also to the partner at times. A doula is a joyful servant to a mama and is there to help the mama have the best birthing experience possible.

Doulas have been serving women for thousands of years.  It may be one of the oldest professions.  Only recently have some of the benefits of this age-old practice been documented.

Meet the Doula

Terri Schelkoph  (CD)DONA, HCHD

Welcome and Congratulations!

With over 200 births attended, I am a seasoned doula dedicated to providing compassionate support to families during one of life’s most transformative moments. As a DONA-certified professional, I combine extensive training with hands-on experience to empower mama's and their partners.

In addition to my doula certification, I am Hypnobabies® certified, specializing in evidence-based techniques to promote relaxation and confidence during labor. I am also VBAC Link® certified, offering expert guidance for those considering vaginal birth after cesarean. Lastly, my Spinning Babies® training, allows me to help women utilize their bodies positioning to work with their babies during their labor and delivery.

I am passionate about fostering a positive birth experience, educating women to know their options and empowering them to make their own decisions. As a devoted Christian, I integrate my faith into my practice, providing spiritual support and encouragement for those who seek it. I believe that every birth is unique and deserves to be treated with respect, love, and unwavering support.

When I’m not attending births, I enjoy connecting with my community, leading prenatal education workshops, mentoring other doulas, and directing the Doula Intern Program through The Nest at New Birth Midwifery.

Outside of birth work you can find me with my hanging out with my husband of 20 years, homeschooling my 6 children, reading a good book, drinking copious amounts of coffee,  enjoying sweet friendships, watching the Vikings games, or serving at my wonderful church.
